Photochemical Strategies for Carbon–Heteroatom Bond Formation
Photochemistry offers innovative approaches to forge carbon–heteroatom bonds. Photocatalysts facilitate these cross-couplings via electron or energy transfer, either independently or with a secondary catalyst. Methods without photocatalysts involve photolabile substrates or the creation of photoactive donor-acceptor complexes. This review outlines and analyzes these strategies for light-mediated carbon–heteroatom bond formations based on their proposed mechanisms.
