Visible light photocatalysis has revolutionized organic synthesis by utilizing photons as sustainable and traceless reagents. While traditional photoredox cycles dominate the field, recent advancements explore novel concepts, particularly in longer wavelength applications. This survey highlights the crucial role of photon wavelength and intensity in tuning photocatalyst reactivity to control reaction selectivity. Additionally, it discusses replacing strong reductants like elemental lithium and sodium with light, alongside technological innovations in the field.
